Annie Dillard (born April 30, 1945)

Dillard is an award-winning author who has published works of poetry, essays, prose, and literary criticism, as well as two novels.  Her 1974 work, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, won the 1974 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. Dillard taught at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., from 1979 to 2000, according to the <a href="http://articles.courant.com/1997-05-08/entertainment/9705080077_1_connecticut-women-s-hall-fame-today-eugene-o-neill-memorial-theater">Hartford Courant</a>.
