COACH: Mark Logan
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Finished 16th in New Englands. ... Second at Class M championship. ... Won Windham Invitational and CCC championship. ... Sixth at State Open.
BENDZINSKI SAID: "We had a very strong team effort this year, I'm very proud of all the girls I was with. We had a couple of [personal records] at the conference meet that made for a couple of big hugs after the race. For myself, because this year, Connecticut was so strong with its competitive field, it was a lot different than last year. It was really good to have the competitors around me because it helped me improve my personal goals and to get to New Englands very strong. In New Hampshire I felt like had the best race ever."
LOGAN SAID: "She more than fulfilled expectations. She rode through some major barriers this year. For me it was validation that everything she had worked for had come to fruition, receiving that scholarship from Bucknell put her in the frame of mind where she didn't have to think about what she was doing next year. It really relaxed her. She had some schools that she was looking at, she felt very comfortable with the atmosphere with Bucknell. I think that put her mind at ease, so at the end of our season she was ready to really rip off some good times and good races. She did that with strong efforts, not only at the class meet and CCC meets but also at the Open and New England meet."
UP NEXT: Will run indoor and outdoor track at RHAM and will attend Bucknell on a scholarship to run cross country, indoor and outdoor track. "I'm obviously excited. It's kind of strange because it's five hours away from me, but there are a bunch of Connecticut people there. I felt on my visit that I'd have an awesome group of people to run and hang out with. I'm also excited for the academic part."
IN 10 YEARS: "Hopefully I'll still be running, not for a career, but just recreationally, and hopefully be a little competitive. I'm going to do pre-med in college and probably try to be a doctor."
MISCELLANEOUS: "I work at the Chez Ben Diner in Manchester. I clean off tables, it's really fun. ... I've gotten back into playing violin after wrist surgery in September. I might try to do that in college."
