'King Lear'

William Shakespeare's "King Lear" Morris Carnovsky played the title role at the American Shakespeare Theatre in 1975, and it was one of the theater's last great hurrahs. At 77, the veteran actor had the power, the poignancy and the lifetime of experience to leave an audience stunned at the end of this epic work. I still ache at the memory of his goodbye to his beloved Cordelia.
