After a short closure for renovations, Peppercorn's Grill in Hartford reopens Saturday, July 12, and the restaurant offers a special Roman tasting menu to mark its 25th anniversary.
The $34 four-course prix-fixe includes a tasting of salads, vegetables, pastas, meats and desserts.
* Carciofo alla giudea e Fiori di ZuccaL a sampling of crispy fried Roman artichoke, accompanied by crispy zucchini blossoms stuffed with peppered mozzarella
* A tasting of Roman pastas (served family style) including tagliolini "cacio e pepe": housemade noodles with creamy olive oil, pecorino cheese, and black pepper accompanied by bombolotti all’amatriciana - pasta tossed with crispy "guanciale" pancetta, caramelized onions, and spiced San Marzano tomatoes finished with pecorino romano
* Choice of Pollo alla Diavola (Roman style bricked free range chicken;) Saltimboca di Vitello alla Romana (sauteed veal, sage, prosciutto in a natural sauce with a hint of Marsala) or Abbacchio a Scottadito (grilled herb marinated lamb chops with a drizzling of red wine reduction and a tasting of wild mushrooms.) All entrees are served with roasted potatoes and Roman style greens with extra virgin olive oil, peperoncino, and San Marzano tomato.
Dessert: A tasting of Roman-style sweets.
