West Hartford's Blue Plate Kitchen has added hours to its Sunday service, now offering dinner from 4 to 8 p.m.
Blue Plate's menu features several salads, sandwiches, "smashed" beef burgers on English muffins and hearty entrees like "The Bishop" corned beef and pastrami dish with potato latkes, applesauce and sour cream; "Sunday Supper" with rotisserie turkey breast and bacon-wrapped "Mom's meatloaf" with ketchup demiglace. Other substantial plates include skillet macaroni and four cheeses, baked scrod and steak frites with smoked bleu cheese.
Diners have also come to expect nightly special offerings on the restaurant's blackboard: daily soups, pastas, house-smoked brisket, roasted vegetable lasagna and fresh fish, depending on availability from seafood purveyor Red's Best.
The restaurant's Happiest Hour now extends through the bar, dining room and expansive patio on weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Deals include $3 select City Steam Beers; $4 select glasses of wine and $5 small plates.
