In a particularly early instance of "seasonal creep," Starbucks has announced - in a roundabout way - that its cult-favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte will return later this month.
The coffee chain has deployed @TheRealPSL, an official Twitter account for the latte, to drum up excitement for the fall beverage's comeback.
"18 days until I'm back from vacay," the account tweeted on Aug. 7. "Get ready to 'fall' in love all over again."
The latte is officially back in stores on Sept. 2; however, followers of @TheRealPSL will have the opportunity to participate in an online scavenger hunt.
"The online game will conclude on Aug. 25, which is when those participating will find out how to unlock their stores, and they will be able to visit stores nationwide the following day, Aug. 26, to unlock stores and enjoy early access to PSL," a Starbucks spokesperson said by email.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte is a blend of espresso, pumpkin-flavored syrup and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices. The beverage celebrated its 10th anniversary last fall.
