Following the spring opening of Ted's Montana Grill, Hartford's Front Street will soon see another new restaurant. Nixs Hartford, a seafood-focused eatery with craft cocktails, is set to open by month's end, according to a news release.
Named for Nix's Mate, an island off the coast of Boston Harbor, the restaurant is part of the Bostonian Hospitality Group. Other locations are in Boston, Nantucket, Plymouth and Newburyport.
A sample menu features raw bar selections, ceviche, lobster rolls, fish tacos, and crudo of the day, along with "land" items like a charcuterie plate, pork belly sliders and assorted flatbreads. Large plates include truffle lobster mac and cheese, "fully loaded" lobster with crab and Gruyere stuffing, salmon filet and flank steak.
Cocktails, made with premium spirits and house infusions, include housemade "bottled" drinks like the Moscow Mistress with strawberry basil infused vodka, ginger beer, rhubarb bitters and cognac. Other signature drinks are available by the half-carafe and full carafe for larger-batch imbibing.
"We’re very excited for the fourth location of Nixs. Hartford is developing into the thriving city that we’ve all been hoping for," said managing partner Abner Kurtin in a press release. “We’re right across from the Convention Center where the Front Street community is growing with increasing foot traffic each week. And now UConn is bringing students back to the city. We’re in a tremendous position for growth."
Nixs will open at 40 Front Street. Information: nixshartford.com.
