The Mill at 2T in Simsbury's Tariffville section is closing through April 1 for renovations.
"We are keeping the physical space size and shape the same. We are giving the floor, decor, and tables and chairs a complete makeover," co-owner and executive chef Ryan Jones said in an email. "The main dining room will be for reservations while the kitchen side is going to be all tall tables so it will be [a] slightly more casual feel with a direct view into the kitchen from any table on that side."
When the restaurant reopens, diners can look forward to more casual dining opportunities: Sundays with a family style lunch/dinner menu; "Monday Funday" themed dinners and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday happy hour with half-priced select wine and light snacks.
"We'd like to welcome our community to visit more often and by doing that we will offer a slightly larger menu," the restaurant noted in an email announcement. "The new menu will have items like Confit Duck Poutine and a Burger to Foie Gras and a Rib Eye."
On April 2, the day Mill at 2T reopens to the public, diners can enjoy a $45 three prix-fixe menu (reservations are required) with choice of salad or Island Creek oysters; pork belly carbonara or lobster corn chowder; tuna steak frites or marinated hanger steak and doughnuts for the table. BYOB is an option, with no corkage fee.
On April 3, the restaurant hosts a four-course Red Car wine dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $90.
The restaurant's first Monday Funday will be April 7, with a family-style meal of BLT salad with goat cheese; fried chicken with cheddar cornbread waffles, Brussels and bacon and apple crisp for $22.
