Delaney's Tap Room, a venerable New Haven bar and restaurant known for its extensive beer selection, was destroyed in a three-alarm fire Monday evening. Fans took to Twitter in disbelief.

Three firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation. Fire crews are expected to demolish the remains of the building today, according to Fox CT. Owner Peter Gremse told Fox says the decision to rebuild is up to the building's owners, but he would like to see Delaney's come back in the future.

Delaney's was set to host a Tip-a-Cop event Aug. 28 with New Haven police, to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. The fundraiser has been tentatively rescheduled for Sept. 19 at a new venue to be announced, according to a news release from the New Haven Police Department.
