Describing itself as a place for "modern, rustic comfort food," Brownstone Cafe plans its grand opening in West Hartford Thursday, March 20.
The Oakwood Avenue restaurant is owned by Vin and Jen Keola, who've owned and operated Pintore Catering in Hartford for the past seven years. Vin Keola said opening a restaurant has been his goal for the past few years; Pintore will continue to run out of the Brownstone location.
Brownstone will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week, with brunch options on Saturday and Sunday. A full bar will offer a dozen taps of draft beer, including local brews; wine and cocktails. Keola is working with Jonathan Edwards Winery of North Stonington as an exclusive local supplier, in addition to an extensive list of wines from around the world.
A sample menu lists pappardelle with chicken and shrimp; roasted turkey breast and braciole-stuffed lamb, along with small plates like satay and portobello sliders. Brunch dishes include quiche, poached eggs and omelets. Kelly Ferrisi will serve as executive chef. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with food and drink specials.
Keola said he thinks Brownstone will be a good option for diners looking for restaurants outside of the Center. "Where we are, we're surrounded by a lot of neighborhoods," he said. "It's a good neighborhood restaurant and bar...I want [people] to come in and be really comfortable, at home."
Brownstone is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 860-566–8280, brownstonecafewh.com.
