Two Connecticut breweries are in the running for USA Today’s 10Best “Best New Brewery” award, spotlighting businesses founded in the past two years.
New Park Brewing in West Hartford and Fox Farm Brewery in Salem are currently in the top 10 among the national list of 20, nominated by a panel of beer experts. Readers will pick a winner, with the opportunity to vote once per day until March 19 at noon.
New Park Brewing, which opened in March 2017, was recognized for its small-batch beers, including an oatmeal milk stout and blueberry Berliner weisse.
“We are honored to be nominated for USA Today’s Best New Brewery award – in some excellent company on this list!” New Park co-founder John Doyle said in a statement. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year!”
Fox Farm Brewery opened its brewery in May in a 1960s barn on a 30-acre parcel of Salem farmland. USA Today’s experts noted its American blonde, pilsner, IPA, pale ale, porter and a dry-hopped farmhouse ale.
“With over 1,000 new breweries opening in the last couple years, it’s an honor to be considered,” said Fox Farm founder Zack Adams in an email. “Like most, we put everything we have into making our beer. It’s humbling and motivating to be reminded that people are enjoying what we have to offer.”
The winning breweries will be announced on March 23.
