First New Haven Cocktail Week Launches In August

The inaugural New Haven Cocktail Week, running Aug. 20 to 25 at more than two dozen city bars and restaurants, seeks to highlight the city’s mixology prowess.

Twenty-six participating venues will offer specially-designed menus featuring four craft cocktails (with one priced at $8) and select locations will also host educational sessions focusing on spirits and mixology, according to a news release.

Official New Haven Cocktail Week passports will be available at each location, allowing guests to earn prizes based on the number of visits or for attending educational sessions. With each visit, guests will receive one stamp on the page of the establishment, two stamps for attending an educational event and three stamps for a visit to any participating establishment on the final day, Aug. 25, “Cocktail Exploration Day.”

Participants include The Anchor Spa, Atelier Florian, BAR, Barracuda Bistro & Bar, Bull & Swine, Cask Republic, Christy’s Public House, Elm City Social, Firehouse 12, Geronimo, House of Naan Indian Kitchen & Bar, Kitchen Zinc, Mecha Noodle Bar, Midpoint, Oak Haven Table & Bar, Olea, Olives and Oil, Ordinary, The Owl Shop, Pacifico, ROÌA Restaurant and Cafe, Shell & Bones, Temple Grill, Union League Cafe, Zafra and Zinc.

“New Haven has a tremendous reputation when it comes to restaurants, and the talent extends beyond the kitchen to our many talented mixologists,” said John Brennan, chef-owner of Elm City Social and Olives and Oil. "This is New Haven’s first Cocktail Week and we’re so excited to showcase what we have here in the city.”

A portion of proceeds from Cocktail Week will be donated to All Our Kin, a New Haven-based organization that trains, supports, and sustains community child care providers.
