The latest fast-food stunt to sweep social media is Burger King’s Mac n’ Cheetos, a concoction of fried macaroni and cheese coated in Cheetos crumbs.

The Mac n’ Cheetos, which Burger King bills as “dangerously cheesy,” debuted June 27. They follow in the footsteps of other fast food/snack hybrids that appeared to have been dreamed up by drunken college students, like Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Tacos and 7-Eleven’s Doritos Loaded.

Intrigued, we passed Burger King’s cheesy bites around the newsroom for a taste test, and reactions varied widely from “Pretty freaking good” to “They’re not terrible” to “Can I have some fries to wash that flavor out of my mouth?”

The macaroni and cheese itself seems to be standard Kraft quality, and there’s bad news for Cheetos fans: The flavor of your favorite crunchy snack was close to nonexistent, and the coating didn’t leave any telltale orange cheese dust on our fingers.

An order of five pieces has a suggested price of $2.49. burgerking.com.
