Newington's Rooster Company gets into the Oktoberfest spirit with a special menu, running Sept. 23 to 30.
Chefs Matt Backe and Rich Jurman designed the German-inspired dishes, including a salad with pickled local beets, fennel, and herbs with homemade birch tree vinaigrette ($6); a trio of housemade bratwursts (pork bratwurst, veal weisswurst, and chicken sausage, $20) smoked pork chop with braised red cabbage, tart apple salad and grated horseradish ($21) and sauerbraten carpaccio: marinated beef tenderloin with red wine jus, burnt shallot aioli, ginger caraway 'sand' and fermented carrots ($12.)
A featured pretzel bread pudding dessert with local pumpkin, sage cream and black cherry is $6.
