The Mill at 2T, regarded as one of Hartford County's top spots for fine dining since its 2009 debut, has closed and will reopen later this year under new ownership.
Kelleanne Jones, who opened the restaurant in Simsbury's Tariffville section with her husband, Ryan, confirmed its sale in an email. The couple is relocating to Charleston, S.C., she said.
"It's been a great seven years," she wrote, calling the move "bittersweet." She declined to name the buyers, saying that they would make their own announcement about the future opening. The new owners will also honor The Mill at 2T gift certificates once they open, she confirmed.
The Mill at 2T received plenty of accolades during its tenure, becoming known for its intimate dining room with a chef's counter, where guests enjoyed watching executive chef Ryan Jones prepare multi-course tasting menus. For its five-year anniversary in 2014, the restaurant introduced a more casual "Monday Funday" option, offering $22 fixed-price meals with entrees like fried chicken, burgers, fajitas and steak frites.
