Connecticut Chefs To Compete In New '86'd' Culinary Battles

Connecticut chefs are slated to join a new battle series, 86'D: A Culinary Collision, which launches Feb. 6.

The 10 p.m. event will be held at a yet-undisclosed venue with two surprise participants. Dueling chefs will not be announced before each competition, and each location (within a 5-mile radius of Hartford) will be revealed 24 hours before the date.

Each chef is given three mystery ingredients and use of a kitchen pantry, and may create as many dishes as they want (a minimum of two in 45 minutes.) Guests watch the action in an open kitchen while enjoying cocktails, beer and appetizers.

Three guest judges will choose the winning chefs based on originality, flavor, plating and cleanliness of their station.

Events are produced by Eat IN Connecticut and Scott Miller, DORO Restaurant Group partner and chief operating officer. Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door; packages starting at $75 are available for future battles, scheduled for March 6 and 20, April 3 and 17, May 15, June 5 and Aug. 28.
