Mystic’s Oyster Club is among the best oyster bars in America, according to Travel & Leisure magazine.

“The duo [owner Daniel Meiser and chef James Wayman] procures seafood exclusively from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, yet they use it in eclectic, globally influenced dishes like steamed mussels with a coconut-lemongrass broth, lime, and cilantro,” editors write. With a menu that changes daily, it’s enough to keep the regulars guessing.”

The Travel & Leisure writeup also references Oyster Club’s unique Tree House, its outdoor raised deck and bar featuring a raw bar and cocktails.

“We are so proud to represent Connecticut with this national honor and to shed light on the amazing artisan food scene in Mystic that we have been working so hard to grow,” Meiser said.

Oyster Club joins several nationally-recognized names on the list, including Eventide Oyster Bar in Portland, Maine; Hog Island Oyster Company in San Francisco; Casamento’s in New Orleans; Island Creek Oyster Bar in Boston and Grand Central Oyster Bar in New York City. The Mystic restaurant’s nearby neighbor, Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingston, R.I., also made the cut.

Oyster Club is at 13 Water Street in Mystic. 860-415-9266, oysterclubct.com.
