5. Neon Vibe 5K
It’s dark outside, yet the streets are still lit as 5K runners compete in Fort Lauderdale for the annual Neon Vibe 5K on Feb. 15, 2014. Runners are sprayed with tons of colorful neon paints and given glow sticks as they run – all of this topped with an after party. All proceeds go to Miami Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital to help fight simple sicknesses to life-threatening cancer cases.
Price: Ranges from $45-50, does not include shirts
4. Electrodash 5K
Rather than getting covered in neon paint and dye, Electrodash makes slick and creative use of the nightlife with its awesome neon light displays and electro music. Runners will compete down black light tunnels decorated with neon trees, rhythmic inflatables, fog and loud stereos blasting music right in Miami. With a huge after party and stellar DJs, Electrodash offers this nighttime craze to kick off the summer on June 20.
Price: Ranges around $45
3.5K Foam Fest
One of the few 5Ks of its kind, 5K Foam Fest makes its racers dirty and clean, with its crazy obstacle courses covered in mud and clouds of foam. Centered right on Little Everglades Ranch in Hamilton Road Dade County, Foam Fest has its competitors run across lakes, farms, soaped up slides and tall walls slicked with mud. A perfect, unique combination of filthy and refreshing, this daytime Foam Fest begins on May 10 and will be sponsoring multiple charities in Florida.
2. Run or Dye 5K
Get dirtier and more colorful than ever before with the Run or Dye 5K at Sun Life Stadium on May 31. At every kilometer, competitors are blasted with paint, with a tie-dye festival after party in the center of Miami. Dye groups are centered at every blasting station to make sure everyone is painted everywhere at the finish line. Go color crazy.
Price: Ranges $42-47
1. Bad Prom 5K
Not only is Bad Prom 5K glow-in-the-dark; runners are asked to wear prom dresses and tuxes, battling the obstacle courses while trying to make it to the finish line at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami. If you don’t have a prom dress or tuxedo, no worries: Bad Prom has cheap dresses ready for purchase to get sweaty and painted. Run in style on April 25, 2014.
