Gas prices continue to decline despite tensions in Iraq and Ukraine, thanks to rising U.S. output. Greater domestic supplies have led "to the cheapest gas prices for August in years," travel club AAA said.
On Monday, the price of regular gas in Palm Beach County averaged $3.49 per gallon, down by 2 cents from a week ago and off by 15 cents from a month ago, said AAA.
The price for regular gas in Broward County averaged $3.43 per gallon, down 2 cents from last week and 15 cents from a month ago, said AAA.
'Love Boat' cast to christen ship in Fort Lauderdale
The original cast of the popular 1970-80's television show "The Love Boat" will serve as godparents for the Regal Princess cruise ship, which will be officially named in a ceremony Nov. 5 at Port Everglades.
The 3,560-passenger cruise ship entered service in May and is arriving in Fort Lauderdale to begin a maiden season of Caribbean cruises.
The pilot episode of "The Love Boat," shot aboard Princess' 730-passenger original Sun Princess in 1977, started the relationship between the cruise line and the show.
The christening ceremony kicks off festivities for Princess' 50th anniversary in 2015.
Regent Bank begins providing mobile banking
Davie-based Regent Bank is now offering mobile banking to both personal and business clients.
Clients no longer have to make a trip to a bank office to make a deposit; they can now take a photo of their check using the camera on their smartphone or tablet and simply enter the amount to be credited.
Regent Bank clients can access mobile banking in three different ways. One is through a customized app that can be downloaded to an iPad, iPhone or Android device. Another is through a customized web browser tailored to fit on a smartphone screen. The third is through text messaging. Clients can select one or all three options.
"Investing in mobile technology is something we were pleased to do to enhance the overall banking experience for our clients," said Regent Bank Chairman and CEO Cyril S. "Sid" Spiro.
In addition to its Davie/Plantation office at 2205 S. University Drive, Regent has branches in Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.
