Two men arrested for stealing car, burglarizing vehicles in parking lot, police say

Two men were arrested for stealing a car and then using it to drive around to burglarize other cars in the area, police said.

Boca Raton police arrested James Nelloms III, 20, and Sean Vanburen, 26, on Wednesday.

Police said they were notified that a car was stolen Saturday from the Polo Club of Boca Raton. Three days later, while doing surveillance, police followed the car from Riviera Beach to Boca Raton.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers saw the car stop in the 2700 block of Northwest 36th Street and watched as two men — later identified as Nelloms and Vanburen — got out.

They walked up to multiple vehicles parked in the parking lot and jiggled the handles, according to an arrest report. They were able to get into two cars and rummaged through the glove boxes, but took nothing, police said.

Officers approached them as they walked down the street and took them into custody. Vanburen ran from officers and hid in a canal, police said, but was eventually arrested.

Both were charged with burglary, grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools and obstructing an officer without violence. They were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, with Vanburen's bail set at $42,000 and Nelloms' set at $21,000.
