Foxwoods Adding Go-Kart Track To Its Lineup Of Attractions

Just two weeks ago, Foxwoods Resort Casino opened its Thrill Tower — a 12-story tower with two thrill rides — and announced that its HighFlyer Zipline will open in the fall. On Sunday, Sept. 24, the casino in Mashantucket unveiled another planned addition to its family-entertainment lineup: a go-kart track set to open early in 2018.

According to a news release, construction is scheduled to begin this week on the "European-style" karting center, which casino officials say will be one of the longest and fastest go-kart tracks in the world, featuring "dramatic elevation changes and hairpin turns."

"Foxwoods teamed up with On Track Karting, a recognized leader in the karting industry, to offer guests a true motorsport feel," the release states. "The top-of-the-line, multi-level track will feature gas-powered, nine-horsepower karts that give drivers the power and control necessary for the ultimate high-speed rush."

The announcement of the track was made at New Hampshire Motor Speedway before the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series' ISM Connect 300. Richard Rawlings, the star of automotive-themed reality shows, was present at the announcement. Rawlings unveiled a kart with his Gas Monkey Garage logo that he said he will modify to turn it into the fastest kart on the Foxwoods track.

Foxwoods is on a mission to expand its entertainment options to make the casino a destination not just for gamblers and concert-goers but for whole families.

"This is the next logical step as we continue to evolve into the premier resort destination in North America," casino President and CEO Felix Rappaport stated in the news release.
