Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

Pepe's co-owner Francis Rosselli's perfect pizza: "My grandfather's original - the tomato pie." Rosselli, one of Frank and Filomena Pepe's seven grandchildren, began working in the family pizzeria as a young teen. It was there where he fell in love with the simple classic, made with tomato sauce, grated Pecorino cheese, olive oil, garlic and oregano. "I love this pizza because it's the first I ever had," Rosselli said. "I love the balance of [the ingredients.] You could have too much of [one thing] and not enough of another, and you'd mess it up." Frank Pepe's is slated to open its sixth location in January 2011, at 59 Federal Road in Danbury. When the pizzeria first began expansion plans, many doubted the decision, Rosselli said. "We had many questions about whether or not we could replicate...if it would lose its attraction or iconic image," he said. "But we continue to strive to perfect it. I think my grandparents would be proud."
