The Miracle League of Connecticut - dedicated to providing recreational and sporting opportunities for kids with physical and/or cognitive challenges - is partnering with the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford to sponsor four sensory-friendly events at the center throughout 2016. On sensory-friendly days, the center will dim it's lights and lower the volume on exhibits so that families with kids on the autism spectrum - or with other developmental disabilities - can enjoy them. There will also be a stage show, hands-on fun, coloring activities and a quiet room.
From a press release:
"The Miracle League of Connecticut has been a valuable community partner, using their experience with inclusive activities and events to guide our programs so we can provice STEM learning that's accessible for all, while also helping us spread the word about our sensory-friendly and accessible events," says Tracy Shirer, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the Connecticut Science Center.
