A Manchester mom has started a Facebook page called Caleb's Quest and is inviting people to become informed during Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
"When we received the pre-natal diagnosis, there wasn't much information we were given," says Denise Curran who felt pressured to terminate the pregnancy after finding out her baby had Down Syndrome and a heart defect. Her mission is to let other parents know: there are other options and an incredibly supportive network exists.
"It's nice to know there are people out there," she says, adding that she has found a wonderful community of like-minded moms and dads.
13 month old Caleb is the light of Curran's life: "They are the biggest blessing there is. He is the happiest baby there is."
The 27th annual convention of the Connecticut Down Syndrome Congress is coming up on November 16th in Danbury.
