Director: Jason Reitman — An average Joe who spends his life avoiding personal relationships and collecting frequent flier miles for work meets the woman of his dreams, and problems soon begin. Why: Reitman's third film features not only critic favorite George Clooney but rising talent Vera Farmiga. The writer-director also goes into Toronto with a great track record after his first film, 2005's "Thank You for Smoking," ignited a fierce bidding war at the festival. Oscar chances: The film seems a far stretch for a best picture nomination, but Reitman carries some Oscar momentum in the name of "Juno" and Clooney.
