'Spider-Man' (2002)

"X-Men" was a big success, but "Spider-Man" raised the bar (at least commercially) about a dozen notches. It was the first movie ever to make $100 million in a single weekend and made more than $800 million worldwide at the box office. Directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, "Spider-Man" was also a really, really good film, one that took its characters seriously while still reveling in the more fantastic elements of its story.
