If you are anything like me, you're jonesing for TNT's "SouthLAnd" to return and any news about the outstanding police drama's fourth season is welcome.

But the network's announcement that the fabulous Lucy Liu will guest star throughout the season as a member of the LAPD is downright thrilling. The downside: Season 4 doesn't being until January 2012.

I'm hoping the "Charlie's Angels" and "Kill Bill" star gets to use some of the action moves she learned for those films in the role, but I'm excited to see her do anything with "SouthLAnd" stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie.

"Muhahahaha," wrote Cudlitz when contacted via Twitter for a reaction. I believe that means Cudlitz, who had just learned the casting news, is equally excited.

Liu, who appeared in Lifetime's "Marry Me" mini-series last year, hasn't done a weekly series since ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" in 2008-09. Among her other TV credits are her Emmy-nominated role in "Ally McBeal," "Sex and the City," "Joey," "Ugly Betty" and "Cashmere Mafia."

Liu recently reprised her role as Viper in "Kung Fu Panda 2," and completed the films "The Man with the Iron Fists," "Detachment," "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You" and "East Fifth Bliss."
