NBC has ordered a 13-episode second season of its Bryan Fuller-created drama "Hannibal," the network announced Thursday.
Though it has struggled in the ratings on Thursday nights, where last week it did a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 and about 2.7 million viewers overall, it has been an especially strong performer in DVR playback. Also, with a median age of 45.7, it is the youngest-skewing drama on ABC, CBS or NBC.
Fuller has said that the second season of "Hannibal" would focus on the strained relationship between Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy).
In addition to Fuller, Martha De Laurentiis, Jesse Alexander, Chris Brancato, Sara Colleton, Katie O'Connell, Elisa Roth, Sidonie Dumas and Christophe Riandee also serve as executive producers.
The series is produced by Gaumont International Television, Dino De Laurentiis Company and Living Dead Guy Productions, and co-commissioned internationally by Sony Pictures Television Networks.
