MTV exec VP Chris Linn is positioned to take over the top spot at TruTV following the exit of exec veep and COO Marc Juris earlier this month.
Linn currently oversees programming and production for MTV Networks, handling some of the cabler's biggest hits including "Catfish," "Snooki & Jwoww" and the now-defunct "Jersey Shore." Linn has also logged years at Nickelodeon and Spike TV as a production exec.
While "Hardcore Pawn" has helped place Tru on the map with notable viewership, the program has been a ratings outlier, as other skeins on Tru's lineup continue to pull so-so ratings.
The arrival of Linn could see Tru's reality offerings head in an edgier, youth-skewing direction. The net's lineup currently includes "Pawn" and "Lizard Lick Towing," which have blue collar appeal and have performed strongly, but recent additions to the net's slate like "Impractical Jokers," Steve-O-hosted "Killer Karaoke" and "Upload with Shaquille O'Neal" suggest an increased emphasis on young adult demos.
Turner declined to comment.
