Mia Wasikowska, Olivia Williams and Evan Bird have joined David Cronenberg's upcoming thriller "Maps to the Stars."
Entertainment One Films and Martin Katzâs Prospero Pictures are producing with production starting in July in Toronto and Los Angeles. eOne is launching foreign sales next week at Cannes.
Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon.
Project is co-financed by eOne and Prospero Pictures and produced by Martin Katz with SBS Productionsâ Said Ben Said. Sentient Entertainment's Renee Tab, Cronenberg's manager, will exec produce with eOneâs Benedict Carver, who will oversee for the studio. Integral Filmsâ Alfred Hurmer is co-producing.
eOne will directly distribute "Maps to the Stars" in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia/NZ.
Bird, a newcomer, has been cast as a troubled, drug-addicted child star. Williams will play his manipulative mother and Wasikowska will portray his disfigured, schizophrenic, fame-obsessed sister.
Cronenberg has been developing the pic since 2006. He is directing from a script by Bruce Wagner about a ghost story and an attack on the celebrity-obsessed society of Los Angeles.
Katz previously collaborated with Cronenberg on âSpider,â âA Dangerous Methodâ and âCosmopolis.â Ben Said produced âCarnageâ and âPossessionâ and Tab exec produced âCosmopolis.â
