MTV could be the latest net to head to the kitchen with its reality fare.
A casting call has gone out for a food competition show titled "Food School" for MTV. Email states that the cabler and casting firm are "seeking aspiring chefs to fulfill a lifelong dream in the culinary arts that will lead to the job of a lifetime and launch a career of epic proportions."
An MTV spokesperson confirmed to Variety, "‘Food School' is currently in developing for upcoming pilot consideration."
Food Network, Bravo and Fox already have strong programming on-air in the food competition space. Recently, ABC entered the fray with "The Taste," and NBC is cooking up a reality show hosted by Adam Richman titled "Food Fighters." Esquire Network is trying its hand in edgier food competition, with male-skewing program "Knife Fight."
MTV's entrance into the space with "Food School" could mean, though, that the reality subgenre lands a youth-skewing cooking competition show, something that has yet to emerge in the space.
