Feb. 6, The Society Room of Hartford, 31 Pratt St., Hartford,, $175 for VIP Tasting and Entrance, $100 for General Entrance ($375 for a group of four)

If you've ever wanted to taste from a wide-ranging spectrum of the region's best eateries and vineyards, The United Arts Campaign of Greater Hartford has exactly what you've been looking for. Vineyards and restaurants from across the area are joining with the United Arts Campaign on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. to present a true "foodie" experience at the Society Room of Hartford called Big Red For The Arts.

This kick-off for the 2013 United Arts Campaign is designed as a fundraiser for the Greater Hartford Arts Council, which supports over 150 arts, heritage, and cultural organizations in the city. The event will include a special demonstration by renowned chef Tyler Anderson of Millwright's Restaurant, as well as wine tasting of varietals from Sharpe Hill, Priam, Sunset Meadow and Jones Family Vineyards. Each $100 ticket also includes a selection of delicacies from 14 Hartford eateries.

A private, Premier VIP Wine Tasting will precede the initial event by an hour, and costs $175 (which includes general entrance). The VIP event will feature catered hors d'oeuvres, and a special tasting of high-end vintages not available during the main event.

Anderson — who is a veteran of The Dining Room at The Ritz Carlton, Chicago — opened his Simsbury restaurant in 2012 after leaving The Copper Beach Inn in Ivoryton. A winner of Food Network's "Chopped" competition, the California native has worked in the restaurant industry since he was 16 years old.

While being committed to the concept of sustainable seafood, meats, and vegetables, Anderson's award-winning style has been characterized by Star Chef magazine as modern American, with a touch of New England.

Wine from four local vineyards will be available for sampling. Pomfret's Sharpe Hill Vineyard will present bottles crafted by winemaster Howard Bursen, and Colchester's Priam Vineyard will offer blended wines with local flavor. The Litchfield Hills will be featured by Goshen's selections from Sunset Meadow, and a combination of rich soil, southwestern-facing slopes, and a sixth-generation farmer will define the wines from Shelton's Jones Family Winery.

To complement the event's collection of Connecticut wines, food from 14 restaurants will be available for tasting. These restaurants include: DISH Bar & Grill, Fleming's Premium Steakhouse, The Kitchen at Billings Forge, Matthew's, Millwright's Restaurant, Pond House Grille, Salute, The Society Room of Hartford, Trumbull Kitchen, Vito's By the Water, and Vinted.
