Meet "Shades of Risque," the newest release from Sunset Meadow Vineyards in Goshen. The light and fruity sparkling wine is the winery's very first bubbly.
Sunset Meadow describes their new addition as "pomegranate hued...bursting with bright berry notes and a hint of sage, wrapped in a creamy mousse." The off-dry wine is "equally appropriate as an aperitif or paired with a main course."
The candy-pink sparkler is indeed on the sweet side, ready for fruit salads, brunch dishes or summer picnics. Shades of Risque is priced at $14.99 by the bottle at the winery.
Sunset Meadow also hosts its annual Barrel Tasting June 1 at 3 p.m. and June 2 at 2 p.m., offering tastes of wine directly from the barrels and tanks. Guests will enjoy appetizers and cheeses, along with the chance to sample new Sunset Meadow wines before they're released to the public. Tickets are $28 in advance,; $30 the day of the event, including a souvenir glass and tote.
Sunset Meadow is at 599 Old Middle Street (Rt. 63) in Goshen. 860-201-4654, sunsetmeadowvineyards.com.
