Millwright's Tavern Opens Sept. 26

Millwright's long-awaited tavern space will open Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m., showcasing a casual yet still gourmet version of Chef Tyler Anderson's cuisine.

"Lobster rolls and duck fat French fries? Yes. Yes please," read an email blast from the restaurant. Millwright's Facebook page also displays "research and development" shots of short rib macaroni and cheese, "Greek" poutine and cheeseburgers. The tavern also promises "classic cocktails" and "extraordinary beers."

Anderson's Simsbury eatery opened in July in the former Hop Brook Mill, with a dining room overlooking a rushing waterfall. The former Copper Beech Inn chef and his team, including chef de cuisine Luke Venner, maitre'd and beverage director Brent Bushong II and manager AJ Aurricchio, have created a menu of fresh New England farm-to-table fare that changes with the season.

Millwright's will also begin a Sunday brunch on Oct. 7, with customers' choice of three courses for $29.
