Lenny and Joe's Fish Tale, a shoreline seafood favorite, has opened its third - and largest - restaurant at Long Wharf in New Haven, marking the occasion with a grand opening celebration Wednesday.
The casual seafood eatery took over the waterfront building once occupied by Leon's and the Rusty Scupper, at 501 Long Wharf. Co-owner Brian Faye will serve as operating partner, and the restaurant is expected to employ 80 to 100 people.
Co-founders and brothers Lenny Goldberg and Joe Goldberg opened the first Lenny & Joe's in Madison in 1979, where it remains a destination for summertime beachgoers. The second Lenny & Joe's location opened in Westbrook in 1986. New Haven's space will accommodate 230 patrons, with another 100 seats on a seasonal patio.
The menu features baked, fried and broiled fish and seafood, rolls and sandwiches and a raw bar, with fresh clams, oysters and shrimp cocktail.
