Sohors Tek-Tan, general manager of the Elephant Trail in Avon and Blue Elephant Trail in West Hartford, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer a year ago. To honor her memory, the restaurants will donate 25 percent of sales from her favorite menu items Sept. 26 to Sept. 28.
Proceeds from sales of Thai iced tea, Blufeld Riesling and the signature Blue Elephant Cocktail (West Hartford only,) along with mango sticky rice, chili salmon and loc lac, will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Tek-Tan died Sept. 13, 2012 at age 43. She and her husband were parents to four children.
"We hope to honor Sohors' memory by eating her favorite foods this month," said her brother Soden Tek, the restaurants' executive chef, in a statement. "Her dream was always to repay this Connecticut community with our food and friendship, in the same way our family was welcomed and nurtured here. Although she is gone, we hope our friends will join us and share her favorite foods. In a way, it helps her live on."
