Another selling point for the Elm City: After creatively sustainable Miya's Sushi picked up Gourmet Live honors as one of the country's healthiest restaurants, New Haven vegetarian enclave Claire's Corner Copia follows suit as one of Gayot.com's "Top 10 Heart-Healthy Restaurants in the United States."
In its 37th year of business, the beloved Chapel Street cafe continues to serve fresh, organic locally-sourced vegetarian cuisine, including soups, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads and burritos. But owner Claire Criscuolo and her staff also make room for a little indulgence with daily desserts, with many vegan and gluten-free options. The Gayot article also references the signature Lithuanian coffee cake, saying it "...alone is worth the trip."
Claire's Corner Copia is at 1000 Chapel Street (at the corner of College) in New Haven. 203-562-3888, clairescornercopia.com.
