Briq, the newest spot to take over the unique multi-floor space at 266 College Street in New Haven, celebrates its official grand opening April 18 at 5:30 p.m.
Thursday's event features an open bar with specialty cocktails and tapas by chef Mike Hazen. The dining room opens for reservations at 6:30, and the restaurant's rooftop patio opens by 8 p.m., weather permitting.
Briq opened in early March with a soft launch, describing its cuisine as a mix of "global tapas" and "family-style dining." An online menu lists small plates like Szechuan tofu, Korean fried chicken, "drunken" cheesy bread, burrata garlic bread dip, lobster mashed potatoes, char-steamed clams and shrimp salsa, along with salads and cheese and charcuterie. Entrees include chicken with broccoli rabe and preserved lemon citronette; filet mignon with vin rouge sauce and a "towering taco tower for two" with a selection of meats and seafood.
Briq is open Tuesday through Sunday at 5 p.m. 203-891-7155; briqrestaurant.com.
