Back East Brewery Partners With HSO, Unveiling 'Bachtoberfest'

Classical music and craft beer may seem like an unconventional pairing, but Back East Brewery and Hartford Symphony Orchestra are making it happen. The Bloomfield brewers have created a seasonal "Bachtoberfest" for the fall, and proceeds from sales will benefit the orchestra, celebrating its 70th year.

The Bachtoberfest, a German-style Octoberfest beer, is brewed with 100 percent Munich malts and noble hops, according to the brewers. The brew is on tap at several restaurants and bars in greater Hartford and New Haven as of this week, and available for purchase in half-gallon growlers at the brewery starting Aug. 28.

Bachtoberfest also will be available for purchase at the Hartford Symphony's 70th Anniversary Opening Night performances at The Bushnell Center for the Performing ArtsOctober 11-12

"It is an integral part of our mission as a local brewery to support this vibrant community," said Back East co-founder Tony Karlowicz in a statement. "The Hartford Symphony’s 70 year dedication to the arts speaks for itself and we are thrilled to partner with them for this special edition beer."

Back East is at 1296A Blue Hills Ave. in Bloomfield. 860-242-1793,
