Video Friday: 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' Lego-style

Fifty shades of plastic

Though sales are booming for “Fifty Shades of Grey” tickets in the South and Midwest, we’d be far more likely to check out the flick if it starred Lego characters. Fortunately, stop-motion animators Antonio and Andrea Toscano heard our pleas, and released a trailer version comprised entirely of Legos. We assume they’re in the market for funding for a full-length feature as we speak.

Sister, sister

“Nashville” stars Lennon and Maisy Stella are back with a boom! And a clap, for that matter. The singing sisters posted their cover of Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” to YouTube this week. It’s decidedly more sweet than Charli’s high-energy version, but we can find a place in our hearts for both.

Later, Coach

Damon Wayans Jr. is leaving “New Girl.” Again. Wayans, who originally starred as Winston in the show’s pilot, returned a year and a half ago as Coach, a new, sports-minded roommate. But thr.com reports that he has decided not to return for the upcoming Season 5. We are working on crafting an exit for him that will leave the door open for many more returns, especially since ‘Coach’ is our resolution to the upcoming ‘Who’s Jess’ Baby Daddy?’ storyline,” creator Liz Meriwether said. Veeeery sneaky.

On the campaign trail?

“Saturday Night Live” has already racked up a pretty impressive list of comedians appearing on its 40th anniversary episode Feb. 15, like Chris Rock, Dana Carvey, Bill Murray, Jimmy Fallon, Chevy Chase, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Sarah Palin. Wait, wut? Yup, that last one is on board too, according to People magazine. In case you’ve forgotten the true delight that was Poehler rapping during Palin’s 2008 appearance, watch the video above at full volume.

Classically trained beatboxers?

Is it ’90s week on “The Tonight Show” or something? After inserting himself into the “Saved By The Bell” world earlier this week, Jimmy Fallon hosted Will Smith for a beatbox fest to “It Takes Two” on Thursday night. Fortunately, Jimmy’s children are too young to be embarrassed.
