It’s kind of amazing how Fox can simultaneously make me cheer and boo with its programming choices. And it’s all my fault, I guess.

I don’t like reality TV, and with today’s announcement of its 2011-12 primetime schedule, Fox proves it plans to dominate the fall TV season with the new Simon Cowell competition series “The X Factor” just like it dominates the spring season already with “American Idol.” But, again, that’s a small annoyance for me to deal with if it allows Fox to keep such a cherished and under-watched series as “Fringe” around, or to bring us the new, and expensive, sci-fi drama “Terra Nova,” or the new J.J. Abrams series “Alcatraz,” which no doubt will be challenging to viewers.

If only it had meant they kept “The Chicago Code.”

Anyway, Fox introduced four new comedies, three new dramas and “The X Factor” today. Below is the networks scheduling plan, with new shows in UPPER CASE. COme back later Monday and I will have links to video sneak peeks of the new series.
