Bombing on May Day, 1970
On May Day in 1970, during the New Haven Black Panther trials, two bombs were set off in the basement of Yale University's Ingalls Rink. No injuries resulted, and the perpetrators were never identified.
According to the Courant: "A peaceful day of protest by 12,000 people supporting Black Panther chairman Bobby Seale and eight other Panthers turned to violence Friday night requiring riot-garbed policemen and National Guardsmen to restore order... The most serious violence was the bombing of an ice rink where a dance had been scheduled for the protesters."
