Lauper topped the charts with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "True Colors" and "Time After Time" back in the '80s — she won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1985, in fact. Recently, she won a Tony Award for writing the lyrics and music for the Broadway musical Kinky Boots, once again proving that she has the talent to stay active and relevant, despite being intensely associated with a well-defined, easy-to-pigeon-hole musical era.
