Dan Deacon

Somewhere at the intersection of laptop dance-pop, academically rigorous counterpoint and experimental post-rock noise sits the music of Dan Deacon, an electronic musician who seems perfectly comfortable navigating the challenges and contradictions of post-iTunes music-making. Back in March, Deacon opened arena shows for Arcade Fire, peppering off-nights with headline gigs at smaller venues. His "America," a recording that came out back in 2012, alternately bristles with industrial chaos (check out "USA II: The Great American Desert") and slow-burn ambient beauty (try "Prettyboys"). (There's talk of a follow-up coming out soon.) Fake Babies and Furnsss open.

DAN DEACON performs on Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Space in Hamden, with Fake Babies and Furnsss. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Information: manicproductions.org
