The Ovation Awards, L.A.'s biggest theater honors, were handed out Sunday at a ceremony at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.
Center Theatre Group was the top winner of the evening with a total of 12 awards. The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts won the award for best season. "The Nether," a new drama by L.A. playwright Jennifer Haley that was presented at CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre, received seven Ovations, the most of any single production.
Sunday's ceremony was hosted by actor Michael McKean. The awards covered productions in the period from Aug. 27, 2012 through Aug. 25, 2013. Ovation voters are L.A. theater professionals chosen each year through an application process.
