The number 13 is considered unlucky. The fear of this number in our culture is demonstrated regularly --  more than 80 percent of high-rises lack a floor marked 13, many airports skip the 13th gate, airplanes have no 13th aisle. Jack the Ripper and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB00434121" title="Charles Manson" href="/topic/crime-law-justice/crime/charles-manson-PECLB00434121.topic">Charles Manson</a> both have thirteen letters in their names. We could go on but you get the picture.
