Victoria Mancini picked up bartending after she graduated from college a few years ago and is coming up on her one year anniversary at Brass City Bistro. Mancini went to school for acting in London, and while she works on pursuing her acting dream New York City, she enjoys using her creative side to come up with cocktails.
Q: What's your favorite ingredient to work with and why?
A: Right now one of my favorite ingredients is cucumber; it goes really well with not only vodka but gin. I really like muddled drinks. They're my favorites because I'm not a fan of super sweet drinks. I like something with a fresh quality to it.
Q: How do you find a balance between sweet and savory?
You just have to test things out; it's like creating any other recipe. Start out with something you know and take qualities from other recipes. Sometimes it takes a while to narrow it down to something you like. Find those happy mediums.
Q: What's your most popular drink at Brass City Bistro?
A: Our espresso martini. It just comes down to the fact that people really love coffee. It's nice because we serve it two ways, with or without Bailey's to make it more like a milkshake. You really can't go wrong
Q: What do you think will be a big flavor this summer?
A: Strawberry will be huge. We do a lemon basil here that I'm sure will be big. We also do a watermelon martini with freshly muddled watermelon that is always is a big seller.
