Get out and get festive: Spring and summer festivals in Hampton Roads

Where: The Mariners' Museum, Newport News

Details: The Mariners' Craft Beer Festival is a follow-up to The Mariners' fall Battle of the Beers. The event features two to three selections from 11 local, regional and national craft beer breweries. Breweries represented include Heavy Seas, O'Conners, Alewerks, Bold Rock, Starr Hill, Goose Island, St. George, Legend, New Belgium, Smart Mouth and Devil's Backbone. Live music will be provided by the Esoteric Ramblers and Speakeasy. Also, Devil's Backbone will hold the Hampton Roads launch of its Striped Bass Ale, and craft brewers will conduct question and answer sessions.

Admission: Tickets are $30, $35 at the door, and include up to 20 tastings, a souvenir glass and admission to the museum for the day.

YORKTOWN PIRATE INVASION

When: Saturday, May 4, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Where: Yorktown waterfront, The Watermen's Museum, 309 Water Street, Yorktown.

Details: Join the swashbuckling excitement for a day of pirate-related events for the whole family. The festival includes a mock trial, a pirate assault on the beach, folk music and cannon blasts.

WINE & RUN FOR THE ROSES

When: Saturday, May 4, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Muscarelle Museum of Art, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg

Details: Event includes a silent auction, reception featuring Virginia wines, a live auction of lots of world-class wines, and ending with a televised viewing of the Kentucky Derby. Proceeds benefit the museum programs.

Admission: Tickets $100 and up. Limited to 300 guests.

SPRING TOWN POINT VIRGINIA WINE FESTIVAL

When: Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Where: Town Point Park, Norfolk

Details: Norfolk Festevents brings 25 of the best wineries from across Virginia to Town Point Park for two days of sampling and socializing. The event has been expanded to two days for 2013.

Admission: Saturday tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the gate; Sunday tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the gate. Non-tasting tickets are $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday.
