Thursday afternoon, 48 artists and volunteers began creating a 48 foot-long tile mosaic on the side of the New Britain YMCA. For the next 48 hours the artists and volunteers plan to work through the heat and night to complete the work by the afternoon of Saturday, June 23. The project is the culmination of six months of planning by Central Connecticut State University's Community Central program, which strives to engage the surrounding communities of the university through arts and other mediums. The mosaic itself was designed by CCSU Professor Jerry Butler and depicts the history and ingenuity of the New Britain community.
