Brussels Pizza, Krust, Middletown
If only this pizza had been around when Mom was telling you to eat your vegetables. At the pizza and bourbon bar on Middletown's Main Street, Rich Garcia and Kevin Wirtes have made a name for themselves with wood-fired pies matched with a vast collection of spirits. Garcia calls himself a "Brussels sprouts pusher," and designed the pie with roasted sprouts, onion, fresh garlic, Parmesan, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt to highlight the vegetable. The oven's heat caramelizes and crisps the sprouts, erasing any bad memory you may have of childhood dinners.
